for families to thrive not just survive

Welcome to

SPECIAL FAMILIES EASGRINSTEAD

We are a support group for parent-carers with disabled children from East Grinstead and surrounding areas.  We are non profit organisation with a small charity constitution in place.  We offer activities, support, courses and information for the whole family.

You do not need a diagnosis or referral to join us as often this is the time when support is needed the most.

Our children have a wide range of disabilities or additional needs ranging from ADHD, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Chromosome disorders, Down Syndrome, Dyspraxia, Epilepsy, learning disabilities and visual impairments.

We provide the environment for children with additional needs and their families to build lasting relationships. Helping our children have the opportunity to grow and develop together through play and activities.

Our closed Facebook group offers our members peer to peer support, information sharing & an opportunity to ask questions.  Non parent-carers can follow us on our public Facebook page.

Please take a look around our website to see how we can help you and your family.

A LISTENING AND SUPPORTIVE EAR

Special Families East Grinstead has been such a lovely, welcoming group for us moving into the area. In our old region, there was nothing like this at all. The founder and committee members work so hard to support local families and create events that cater to the extremely broad range of needs of group members. This is despite the fact that they too are dealing with the same issues day to day. There is always a listening and supportive ear on the Facebook group and people can be open about issues they encounter and will always find sympathy, and empathy from others in a similar boat. In the current climate, funding, donations or sponsorship is extremely hard to come by, but group members never stop working at this and it would be hard to find a more deserving cause that enriches the lives of such a number of families in difficult situations.
